google-htc-dream According to Andy Rubin, speaking at Google I/O, Google’s coming out with 18 or more Android Phones this year.

Rubin claims the releases will come from 8 or 9 manufacturers with faster adoption seen in Europe as US carriers try to "create highly distinctive versions of the Android phone to give themselves an edge." Sure, edge, if that’s what you want to call the US cartel of hoops and handcuffs then go right ahead. HP To Offer Startup’s Longer-Lasting Battery

Sonata_batteries_175 Hewlett-Packard will be the first computer maker to offer startup Boston Power’s longer-lasting battery in laptops, the companies said Wednesday.

Called Sonata, the lithium-ion battery can withstand up to three years of recharging before losing its maximum capacity, according to Boston Power. Most batteries used today have a lifespan of about half that much. In addition, the battery recharges in only 30 minutes, which is much faster than traditional laptop batteries, and is less likely to overheat.
